1. Who we are

The Services are operated by Where’s The Game On (developer account “Gameon1916”). We are the data controller responsible for your information. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at contact@wheresthegameon.com.

2. Summary

• You do not need to create an account to use the Services. We do not ask for your name, password or payment details.
• The app stores your preferences (such as saved teams, selected country and timezone) to provide its features. These are stored on your device and, where you enable them, used to deliver match alerts.
• We use privacy-respecting analytics and advertising tools (including Google services) to understand usage and support the free Services.
• Sports fixtures, scores and TV listings are provided by the third-party sports data service TheSportsDB.
• You can control notifications, advertising identifiers and location permissions through your device settings at any time.

3. Information we collect

Information you provide

If you contact us by email, we receive the email address and any information you include so we can respond. If you set preferences in the app (for example, favourite teams, your country or timezone), we process those selections to personalise your experience.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Services we and our service providers may automatically collect: device and technical information (device model, operating system and version, app version, language and region settings, and a device or advertising identifier); approximate location derived from your IP address or the country you select; app and website usage data (screens viewed, features used, taps, session length and referring links); and diagnostic data such as crash reports and performance information. We use standard technologies such as cookies and mobile SDKs to collect some of this data on the website and in the app.

Push notification tokens

If you opt in to match alerts, we process a push notification token issued by Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send the alerts you request. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Data we do not collect

We do not knowingly collect your real name, contact list, photos, precise GPS location, health data, or financial account details, and we do not require you to sign in.

4. How we use information

• To provide and operate the Services — showing live and upcoming fixtures, scores, kick-off times in your timezone and TV/streaming listings for your country.
• To deliver the match alerts and reminders you choose to enable.
• To remember your preferences (saved teams, country, timezone and TV region).
• To measure and improve performance, reliability and usability through analytics and crash reporting.
• To support the free Services through advertising, including measuring advertising performance.
• To protect the Services against fraud, abuse and security threats, and to comply with legal obligations.

5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the features you request); your consent (for optional analytics, personalised advertising and push notifications, where required); and our legitimate interests (to secure, maintain and improve the Services), balanced against your rights. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

• Service providers who process data on our behalf, including hosting, analytics, crash reporting, push-notification delivery and advertising.
• Google — we use Google Play services, Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager and Google advertising products, which may process device and usage data. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Apple — for app distribution and push notifications on iOS. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
• TheSportsDB — our sports data provider, which supplies fixtures, scores and TV listings. Requests for this data may include technical information such as your IP address. See TheSportsDB.
• Legal and safety — where required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us.

7. Advertising

The Services may show advertising to keep them free. Advertising partners (such as Google) may use device or advertising identifiers and usage data to select and measure ads, and in some cases to show personalised ads. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier and opt out of personalised advertising through your device settings (“Ads” / “Privacy” on Android and iOS) or via Google Ads Settings.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Preferences stored on your device remain until you change them, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the retention settings of the relevant providers. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle your enquiry.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for the website and app data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.

10. Children

The Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the age required by your local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Users in the EEA/UK have rights under the GDPR; users in California have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. You can exercise the following at any time:

• Turn match alerts on or off in your device notification settings.
• Reset or limit your advertising identifier, and opt out of personalised ads, in your device settings.
• Clear the app’s stored preferences by clearing its data or uninstalling it.
• Request access to, or deletion of, information we hold by emailing contact@wheresthegameon.com.

We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

12. International data transfers

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

13. Third-party links

The Services may link to third-party websites, broadcasters or app stores that we do not control. This policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
