Umar Nurmagomedov Challenges Merab Dvalishvili’s Character Ahead of UFC Shanghai

Umar Nurmagomedov has voiced his discontent with Merab Dvalishvili’s recent comments, proposing a new nickname for his rival ahead of their upcoming bouts. The rivalry between the two bantamweight fighters has intensified, particularly as both prepare for significant fights in the UFC.

Nurmagomedov’s Frustration

In a recent interview, Nurmagomedov expressed his irritation with Dvalishvili’s media presence, particularly regarding comments made about him and his manager, Rizvan Magomedov. Nurmagomedov stated that if Dvalishvili has an issue, he should address it directly rather than through social media.

Upcoming Fights

• Umar Nurmagomedov: Competing against Song Yadong this Saturday at UFC Shanghai.
• Merab Dvalishvili: Scheduled to face Petr Yan in a trilogy bout for the bantamweight title at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi this October.

Nurmagomedov, who previously challenged Dvalishvili for the title at UFC 311, has since bounced back with two decision victories. He acknowledged Dvalishvili’s skills as a fighter but questioned his character and approach to conflict resolution.

A New Nickname?

In light of Dvalishvili’s comments, Nurmagomedov suggested that Dvalishvili should change his nickname from ‘The Machine’ to ‘Disrespect Merab,’ citing what he perceives as Dvalishvili’s tendency to complain rather than confront issues directly. This playful jab underscores the growing tension between the two fighters.

Looking Ahead

As both fighters prepare for their respective matches, a victory for either could set the stage for a highly anticipated rematch. Nurmagomedov remains focused on his upcoming fight, while also contemplating the ongoing rivalry with Dvalishvili. The UFC community is keenly watching how this situation unfolds, especially with both fighters in the spotlight.
