Tuchel Praises Bellingham’s Competitive Spirit Ahead of Czech Republic Clash

England manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed his belief that Jude Bellingham excels when he plays with a ‘bit of rage’. This statement comes as the England squad gears up to face the Czech Republic in their next Nations League fixture on Tuesday evening.

Bellingham, who recently earned the title of England’s Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, showcased his talents during the recent 3-2 defeat to Spain. Despite the loss, his performance was a highlight, demonstrating both skill and determination on the pitch.

Tuchel’s Insights on Bellingham

Tuchel noted that Bellingham thrives in competitive situations, stating, “He gets better if that happens. It’s better if he plays with a bit of rage. It’s what he does.” This competitive spirit was evident when Bellingham engaged in a spirited exchange with Real Madrid teammate Marc Cucurella during the match against Spain.

As England prepares for their upcoming match, Tuchel is keen to see Bellingham maintain this intensity. He remarked, “I would love to have him four times on the pitch. I think the concern is that he hasn’t done it this season in this tight period.” The manager emphasised the importance of monitoring player fitness, especially given the demanding schedule of four Nations League matches in just 11 days.

Upcoming Fixtures

England’s Nations League campaign continues with the following fixtures:

• Tuesday, September 29: Czech Republic (A), kick-off 7.45pm
• Saturday, October 3: Croatia (A), kick-off 5pm

As the team travels to Prague, Tuchel remains focused on achieving success in these matches. He has indicated that while he would prefer to field a consistent lineup, player fatigue and fitness will play a crucial role in his decisions.
